Ekpe holds an M.D., MABC and LPC. She currently works as a Telemedicine Physician, specializing in Family Medicine with Doctor on Demand.
For as long as Ekpe can remember, she has had the desire to work in medicine. This desire, and a full basketball scholarship, led her to study Pre-Medicine/Biology at the University of Missouri-Columbia where she graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree. Ekpe went on to receive her M.D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine.
Shortly after graduation, Ekpe moved to Houston to complete her residency in Family Medicine at Memorial Family Medicine and was named Chief Resident her third year.
In 2011, after a number of years working as a physician in Family Medicine, Ekpe had the opportunity to serve on a mission trip in response to the earthquake in Haiti. During her time in Haiti, she was inspired and reminded of her desire to treat more than the physical wounds. A short time later Ekpe received her Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling (MABC) from Dallas Theological Seminary and became a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
Ekpe has had the unique opportunity to use her training in medicine and counseling to treat and provide guidance to her patients in a physical, mental and spiritual capacity. She and her husband of 10 years, Kweku, are passionate about serving orphans in the community. They dream of opening a neighborhood boarding school to serve children in CPS custody.
Ekpe is wife to Kweku, Mom to Zachary, 8 and Jewel, 6. She loves to eat, sleep and travel with dreams of visiting every country in Africa.
This woman is a powerhouse! We can't wait to hear more of her story.
