ROCIO LOPEZ & abby spencer
Rocio works at Buckner International, a global, social service-based non-profit headquartered in Dallas, Texas. She leads and facilitates operations for international programs that serve some of the most vulnerable children and families in Latin America and Africa. Rocio graduated from Baylor University with her undergraduate degree in International Business and Marketing and complete her MBA in December of 2016.
Polished had Rocio at hello. For the past 4 years, she has loved leading with and serving some of the smartest, most talented and accomplished women of Dallas. Connecting with these women to share life and how faith plays into different areas of it makes her heart happy. Her story is a gamut of interesting twists and unexpected, sometimes painful turns. She strives to navigate life through desperate dependence on Jesus and great community - making what lies behind Doors B or Doors C much sweeter.
Rocio is a self-proclaimed foodie and coffee is her love language. Good food and good people is her mantra. A few of her interests include exploring new restaurants, globe-trotting, spontaneous trips to White Rock Lake, her pup Xena (the Warrior Princess), the beach, cultures and social justice.
Abby currently serves as the Director of Business Development and External Affairs at Morning Star Tours, a company which organizes Biblical group travel. This role lends itself to her love for travel, cultures, people, and adventures! Abby’s formal studies were in education with an undergraduate from Moody Bible Institute and a Masters from Cairn University. Fun fact: most of the years Abby spent teaching were in Panamá at an international Christian school.
Polished has been the best volunteering yes Abby has made since joining the Dallas crew as a table leader. Engaging with women from a variety of backgrounds, professional expertise, and journeys is such an encouragement for her and a constant reminder that we are part of a bigger story being woven by the Grand Storyteller. Her heart is filled during the times together as women wrestle through the big questions of life together.
Abby’s favorite things revolve around her people. She loves the my heart friends who are dear gifts. The littles who call her “Tía Abby” make her heart melt every time. Abby’s middle school small group is the funniest and gives her such hope for their generation (and they have been together since the kids were in 1st grade and she love it)! Traveling for work and fun lends itself to the gathering of old friends and new friends! And she loves to create random songs to sing basically anywhere that necessitates a lyric or two.
