Kam S. Phillips believes “you can only dream what you’ve seen”. Upon realizing the unique outlook her experiences in areas such as rodeo and journalism provided, Phillips created Dream Outside the Box (DOTB). DOTB mobilizes collegiate volunteers to engage PK-5 youth in “dream deserts” in imaginative career and extracurricular experiences to propel children towards positive pathways while developing leadership skills among college students.
Since creating the program in 2009, DOTB has expanded to 16 college campuses around the country, been honored by President Obama at the White House as a “Campus Champion of Change”, featured on outlets such as CNN and established a spin-off subscription box service, Dream Delivered, that sends career exploration kits to homes and schools globally. Phillips also operates Dream Architects, a stealth consulting firm that leverages her strengths as a natural innovator skilled in connecting existing infrastructures to maximize resource potential & influence systemic change. Kam is a Harry S. Truman Scholar from Fort Worth, Texas and a proud alum of the University of Missouri.
